getty + malibu

when i think of lily pads, i think of spring. luckily, living in L.A. means beautiful weather and beautiful life forces all year round. my parents escaped the chilly lake of Cleveland a few months ago and visited my new digs in L.A. one of the days, we spent absorbing all the warmth & beauty that the Getty Villa in Malibu has to offer.

this little guy sure was hard to shoot - skipping around so quickly. i think of dragonflies to be the most majestic of flying creatures.

if i were a fairy (or dragonfly) this is definitely the pad i would pick to take a rest.

mexico + cola

i haven't drank any pop soda for years. okay, well i'm not counting ginger ale. i've just never really been into sugary drinks - fortunately, i've never had to beat any bad fizzy addictions.

the other day though, i felt as though i was in a coco-cola commercial. there were so many glass bottles around me - looking so sparkly, so refreshing, so inviting…i caved and ordered one. in my defense, it was a mexican coca-cola (a.k.a the real deal - meaning sweetened with cane sugar not like the american packaged high-fructose corn syrup kind). annnd i was in an old fashioned diner (the nickel diner - which i recommend if you end up in dwtn l.a.) it just felt like the right thing to do.

i have to say i was disappointed, i quickly remembered why i didn't drink coke. the taste just doesn't do it for me. but i do remember my mom getting coco-cola syrup at the pharmacy and sipping it as a kid to help an upset stomach. it totally worked.

there is just something funny about ingesting something that can be used for so many things other than food consumption: the top 10 unusual uses for coca-cola.
